Wedding Photography

I hate it… :) Not really, I just can’t pull myself to admit that I might actually enjoy it. I do shoot some weddings for friends and other referrals. It is not my primary resume builder. It does allow me to hone in on some skills, and it does pay the bills. It takes talent, luck, patience, and the ability to deal with stressful situation, to shoot a wedding. For those who know, I am getting married in June. So since I cannot shoot my own wedding, (I did ask if I could, envision two pocket wizards with a few cameras on magic arms, and me shooting as I kiss my cute fiancee) I had to find one that could live up to my expectations. When anyone has asked me previously about who do I think is the best or one of the best photographers in the area I always recommend Matt and Katie Altmix. Check them out. I have know Matt since college, and been amazed about the work they have produced. I cannot describe it, so go look at his page.  When it came to my wedding, he was of course my first choice. However, they were booked. That’s life. So I asked him to come up with some other photographers that he thought had the skills and style I was looking for. Through his recommendations and my own research I found the following photographers interesting enough for us to consider for our own wedding.  Tim Harman. Jesse and Whit. Kyle Hale. and Cali and Ashley. These are just a few that I looked at and narrowed down. Multiple reasons led to my choosing who we chose.  It really came down to chatting on the phone with them and discussing ideas. Honestly I wanted someone who could capture the ideas that I wanted, but also have their own vision. There are way too many photographers out there that have no style of their own. They fake it way too much. Honestly all of us go through those periods, I just think it is way common in wedding photography.  Cali was my choice (once like a spark). I really like the style directions that she is heading. They have not shot as much as some other wedding photographers and so their portfolio is not full of as many breathtaking images yet, just wait till after our wedding. She has style though, and you can see it working in her images. I really am excited to see what these two are going to do. Again, it came down to talking on the phone, and feeling comfortable with her. Lots of photographers forget, clients need to feel comfortable. I did.  So Get excited, I am. When the wedding happens, I will share her work with you too. If your making a choice on wedding photographers look at these guys. (Although don’t forget about me too.)
